Hotels in Newfoundland and Labrador Cities
Newfoundland and Labrador: the edge of North America where land, water and
sky embrace and the North American day dawns first. Its a land old as time with a rugged coast of glacier-carved
fjords where the whales come so close you can almost touch them.
Newfoundland & Labrador has more than three times the total area of the three Maritime Provinces (Nova Scotia,
New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island) and would rank fourth in size
behind Alaska, Texas and California if it were one of the United States. It is
almost one-and-three-quarters times the size of Great Britain.
One of Newfoundland's gifts to the world is the Newfoundland Dog. Literature
provides stories of brave Newfoundlands who rescued people from watery graves,
of shipwrecks aided by dogs that carried life lines to stricken vessels, of
children brought safely ashore from deep water by Newfoundlands and of dogs
whose work was indispensable as they helped their fishermen companions haul in
their heavy nets on board ship.
