PLEASE SEE NOTES

Day 1 (Saturday)
Your flight (morning arrival strongly recommended) will be met by your guide. Take a brief tour of Yukon's capital, Whitehorse, with time allotted for last minute shopping. After lunch we're off, travelling the historic and scenic Alaska Highway. At Milepost 701, Rancheria River (340 km from Whitehorse) we leave the AlCan Highway and its time to change into your winter expedition clothing. We fire up our machines and ride the Old Silver Tip Trail on our way to the Tootsee River Base Camp, nestled deep in the majestic Cassiar Mountains of British Columbia. You move into your new wilderness home, a cozy Cabin for 4 people or a personal Prospector Wall Tent for 2 people with polished wood floors, wood stove, propane lights and washing facilities. Dinner is served. (L,D)

Day 2 Sunday - Tootsee River Base Camp
Norm will prepare his famed breakfast and teach you more advanced skidoo skills so you can safely enjoy the upcoming days. Today's adventure will take us up High Mark Mountain (peaking at 2100 metres elevation) above the tree line. As the continually rising trail, unfolds spectacular new vistas appear at each switchback. Our final climb brings us to a breathtaking view. Surrounded by the rugged Cassiar mountains and magic boreal forests, we descend the steep terrain, of Eagle's Gorge. A continuing descent returns us to Base Camp for hot showers and dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 3 Monday - Tootsee River Base Camp
With your newly honed snowmobiling skills, you take off on an expedition along the frozen Tootsee River. While travelling, we encounter a double river crossing with an awesome view of the Granite Canyon. After a lunch stop, the trail guides us to remote Tootsee Lake Camp, deeper in the Cassiar Mountains. The camp, nestled on the shores, provides spectacular Aurora Borealis viewing. After cutting some firewood and settling into our comfortable Prospector Wall Tents (2 people per tent with wood floors, wood stoves, washing facilities and propane lights) at the base of Sheep Mountain, we will relish a trapper's dinner over an open fire. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Tuesday - Tootsee Lake Camp
The sun finds its way through the valley as you tend your machine and camp. Cruise the lake; enjoy open terrain. Care to fish for, Lake Trout or Arctic Grayling? For our our last ride, we power up and surge confidently forward, challenging the return to Milepost 701. We transfer to Whitehorse along the Alaska Highway and overnight in Whitehorse Hotel. (B,L)

Day 5 Wednesday - Base Camp
You will be picked up by our van and we outfit you with your expedition clothing for the mushing tour. Afterwards we drive along the Alaska Highway through a frozen winter world until we reach, after 50 kilometres, the basecamp.
You move into your cozy cabin. The dogs are waiting to meet you. Lunch in the main cabin. You want to know what a husky bootie is? Well, you will learn today. We'll show you how to harness the dogs and give you instruction on how to drive the sled.
Depending on the weather and time of the day, we hook up the dogs and go for a short first run. Three dogs pull you on this first day; its not so easy - you have to work up to handling 5.
After taking care of the dogs we enjoy a hearty meal. You might want to take a sauna or just relax on the couch beside the stove, and listen to the dogs howling outside. Overnight in Cabins in Base Camp. (L,D)

Day 6 Thursday - Takhini River
While the morning sun slowly lifts over the horizon we prepare for our daytrip after breakfast. We feed and water the dogs and harness them up at around 11 a.m. We will cover about 40 kilometres, mainly going along a flat training trail and over the frozen Takhini River. Only the whisper of the working dogs and sled runners gliding over the snow intrude on the silence of the North. You get to know your dogs and start to form a personal relationship. With every stop, and your praise for the dogs, they learn to trust you and you them. We spend the night cabins in Base Camp. (B,L,D)

Day 7 Friday - Ibex Valley
Today we load our sled with some gear and head towards beautiful Ibex Valley. This used to be an old trading route of the Champagne Aishihik First Nations. We easily cover between 40 and 60 kilometres. Slowly a new feeling of life creeps in. In harmony with the running rhythm of your team you will enjoy nature in a way you have never before experienced. The evening we again spend in our cozy log cabins. Time for a shower? Enjoy and relax in our sauna. Overnight in Cabins in Base Camp. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Saturday - 37 Mile Valley
For three days we leave behind the last remnants of civilization and head out for an unforgettable adventure. Your team of Huskies pulls you and your loaded sled to remote 37 Mile Lake, along the Yukon Quest Trail, route of the toughest Sled Dog Race in the World. Driving across lakes still unnamed we reach our preset walltent camp. Everything we need has been packed with us on the sled. We go out to cut some firewood, cook together on the woodstove and share stories. If the group decides, we might even take a few of our new four legged friends in the tent. We have a great chance to meet curious elk or caribou at our encampment. Overnight in Trappers Tent. (B,L,D)

There is a daytrip and transfer to Hotel for our 11 days guests in the afternoon

Day 9 Sunday - Sifton Range
From Camp we start a daytrip further down the Quest trail. If the weather allows there is a possible ascent to the Sifton Range. This offers stunning views in all directions. Aishihik Lake to the west, Whitehorse to the east, Braeburn to the North and the impressive Coastal Range to the south. The evening is spend in our trappers tent, where warm tea or soup are waiting on the stove.
In these surroundings the meaning of freedom gets a new dimension and perhaps you start to understand why people choose to live in this demanding environment. Overnight in Trappers Tent. (B,L,D)

Day 10 Monday - 57 Mile Lake
Today we head to the high, mountainous 57 Mile Lake. We visit old Annie Ned's cabin, drive through high alpine landscape with its very own charm. Your driving skills will be tested, as a few of the trails demand your attention. By now you and your team travel in harmony. Overnight in Trappers Tent. (B,L,D)

Day 11 Tuesday -Yukon Quest Trail
After a mushers' breakfast, we will harness the dogs to mush back to base camp. The dogs pull us steadily southbound with the Coastal Mountains in plain view ahead of us.
In the late afternoon we drive you to Whitehorse where you spend your night in a downtown Hotel. (B,L)

Day 12 Wednesday - Braeburn Lake
In the morning you are picked up by our van again. If you like, we stop at the liquor store, then drive along the Klondike Highway through a frozen winter world until we reach, after 110 kilometres, Braeburn. The Base Camp has no road access and we walk the last mile, while our luggage is transported by snowmachine
You move into your cozy cabin which has 5 double rooms. The new dogs are waiting to meet you.
Depending on the weather and time of the day we hook up the dogs and go for a short first run on the Dawson Trail northbound.
After taking care of the dogs we will enjoy a hearty meal. Overnight in Cabins at Base Camp. (L,D)

Day 13 Thursday - Dawson Trail
We feed and water the dogs and harness them at around 11:00 a. m. We cover about 40 kilometres today, mainly going along the old Dawson Overland Trail and big Braeburn Lake. You will get to know your new dog team. It is important that they learn to trust you and you to trust them. Overnight in Cabins at Base Camp. (B,L,D)

Day 14 Friday - Coghlan Lake Trail
Our daytrip takes us east and we cross the Klondike Highway near Braeburn Lodge, which also the Yukon Quest Mushers have to do. The trail winds through some dense spruce forests with several lakes to cross. Our goal for the day is Coghlan Lake, famous for its steep rock cliff on its east shore.
